Associate Pastor of Education and Church Administration
Job Description
The Associate Pastor of Education and Church Administration at White Plains Baptist Church (WPBC) provides leadership in the development and support of high quality discipleship programs for all age groups and the general administrative oversight of the church.
This position reports to and is directly supervised by the pastor (who is bi-vocational) and is guided and supported by the Deacon Board. The responsibilities of this position include:
1. Leadership for Children, Youth and Adult Ministries
Together with parents, volunteers and other church staff,
- Plan and implement quality discipleship and care programs for children, youth and adults.
- Maintain an array of discipleship resources and curriculum.
- Promote the awareness of church activities and ministry opportunities.
- Coordinate a calendar of ongoing educational programs and short-term educational events.
- Recruit, train and support lay teaching and support volunteers in order to strengthen their ministry abilities and outreach.
- Evaluate and report to the pastor and Deacons on the effectiveness and needs of all discipleship programs.
2. Administrative Leadership
- Implement the administrative policies of the church, assuring the effective and efficient management and administration of church functions.
- Develop short and long-term church goals and plans in support of the ministry goals of WPBC.
- Collaborate with the pastor, church treasurer and Deacons on the development and management of the church budget.
- Coordinate the recruiting, organizing and supervising of church support staff and volunteers in maintaining the administrative and property management policies of the church.
- Represent the church throughout the community and at denominational meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
3. Pastoral Care
Collaborate with other church ministry staff and volunteers to provide pastoral care including counseling and hospital visitation.
Experience & Educational Requirements
- Documented experience in planning and implementing successful discipleship programs
- Three personal and three professional references
- Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in Christian Education or related field strongly preferred.
